William Teacher launched this brand

In 1830, at the age of just 19, William Teacher, a mill worker, saw an opportunity in the new Excise

Act of 1823 and bought a small part of a grocer’s shop in Piccadilly Street in the Anderson district of Glasgow as a place to sell . have bought.

The owner of this grocery store was an old woman whose daughter, Agnes MacDonald, William was in love with.

William opened a second dram shop in 1836, after marrying Agnes two years later in 1832.

People started coming to the dram shop to drink liquor from William, who sold Scotch whiskey. People would sit there and drink the whiskey made by William.

20 drum shops opened one after the other

Teacher Whiskey History: People liked the liquor made by William so much that people used to come to Dram shops and keep drinking liquor for hours.

After this, when William’s business started taking off, he did not look back and opened 20 drum shops one after the other.

With the help of his sons, he obtained a license to sell. While in the whiskey business, William and his ilk had access to single malt and grain whiskey throughout Scotland.

When the Spirits Act came into force in 1860, William Teacher was allowed to create his brand of whiskey and sell it in dram shops.

This is how Teacher’s Whiskey was born.

As soon as he got a license to make his liquor, William Teacher made a whiskey with high peat malt.

He liked this whiskey very much and decided to give this new brand his name.

And that’s how Teacher’s Highland Cream Whiskey came into being.

After the death of William Teacher in 1876, his sons William Junior and Adam carried forward their father’s work and their company became known as William Teacher and Sons. Both his sons shifted the company to St. Enoch Square, where it remained until 1991.

Teachers Whiskey History, In the year 1976, Allied Breweries got the license to produce the Teachers brand.

It became part of Allied Lyon two years later in 1978 and of Allied Domecq in 1994.

In 1996, the GlenDronach distillery was closed.

After reopening in 2002, it was sold to Chivas Brothers.

In the year 2014, Beam Suntory bought the ownership rights to manufacturing Teachers Highland Cream, after which the same company started manufacturing this famous brand.
